4/21/12: ACEOs and art nouveau badges!

Kinda overdue raffle prize for Burgerbaby, first I was waiting on refs and then just, waiting for an idea :P Did this last night, VERY happy with it!  I rarely get the opportunity to draw chubby characters (which makes me so sad) and I love drawing height difference couples, so this was fun!  And I loved just embellishing the linework and leaving it be to speak for itself.  The ACEO I had actually colored a few months ago, I felt it would be perfect.

FenrirsChild was awesome enough to be a guinea pig for my art nouveau themed standard badges!  She suggested the moon crescent and I added the phases with paint.  The way I work with my pencils on parchment varies depending on what effect I want.  I was playing with opacity since I think of art nouveau as having a very vivid/thick coloring style with a lot of softer details, relying on shading instead of excessive linework (very different from my style).  I normally have trouble getting opaque pencils to look okay on parchment but I think this looks pretty good.  :) I hope these catch on, I'd love to make more of them in the future.

As a side note, my MLP doll project is all caught up, only the gala gowns (may come at a later date, depends) and the elements of harmony are left.  I'm fixing a few outfits that had fit poorly but that's done too, now!  So close and I can finally scan and share them with everypony everyone!

Warning: adult art under the cut

2/22/12: Dog's Blood

Raffle prize for Beanzel of her hellhound character Rage!

I got into the snarly mood by playing some Alexisonfire and Blood Brothers, then whipped this out.  It didn't take long and I think it looks pretty good.  I also tried something new this time.  This is an acrylic base with iridescent medium over it.  After that, I added the ink of the character herself, then decided to add some red gel pen for blood.  That wasn't strong enough so I added several kinds of markers and pens to see what showed up best.  I even tried adding a skintone marker over the character's body to see if it would lend a tan hue (it didn't--added a light layer of colored pencil instead).

Off to do more owed work!

11/06/11: 1st Raffle//$5 Sketch Commissions

I held a raffle that was supposed to be the first of ongoing bi-weekly raffles, but shit hit the metaphorical fan and I have to reorganize myself a little, plus I got one person in for the entire raffle, which was a little disappointing.  Eventually I'll start it up again.

I was pretty happy I got to draw for Tooth, though.  :)

She's supposed to be blowing dandelion seeds around.  That's fun.  I didn't get to do it this fall because my college doesn't have dandelions.  Anywhere.
Sketch:

Head looks too big to me and I think the arm and wrist have issues.

Final:

Tried out ink-shading for the first time in a long time.  Sketchy, but I kinda meant it to be that way.  I did a fun little pattern of flowers on her top.  Her pose still feels a little stiff but her head's more proportionate and overall this isn't too bad, I think.  Sketching just part of a person can be HUGELY difficult when you don't have everything there to compare...I read somewhere that it's best to just draw everything and cut away or draw everything on a separate sketch and transfer part of it.

ALSO, I'm doing $5 commissions for a vet bill and if you commission me you get an additional free sketch from Tyber.  You should go do that.  G-XXX welcome, just be sure to read the commissions page. :)
