Finished another gift for my friend Quiche.

I wasn't sure if I'd have time to make her a character, or even what I'd do, but she asked me if I'd do that for her.  I got all excited and felt super honored <3  so I played around with some ideas...a little.  mostly I thought of the photos of sugar gliders I had printed to make a new character.  I thought she'd make a good sugar glider, did a sketch of her as one, and then we decided on colors based off of the photos I had (I printed one for literally -every possible color type- of sugar glider recorded on the web) and did the sheet.

She's just a standard one: standard colors and markings.  She doesn't have any skin for gliding though, it was either removed or she was born without it.  I have a feeling that anthro gliders, since they aren't exactly aerodynamic, would either not have it, have only a little webbing, or have full-out skin, but would also most likely get such skin removed at birth.
She has a pouch and unfortunately I didn't make it sideways like a proper one.  It's kind of cute and cartoony and she could keep stuff in it. :P
The outfits are basically in a lot of bright/cheery colors, or blues, greens, and browns (which most of her wardrobe is made of).  She has an awesome collection of novelty tights/stockings/socks with lots of fun prints and colors and she wears them all frequently.  Cute hair, clips in every day.  She's very studious and likes studying languages...and knitting.  I just drew some of the outfits she wears regularly (she helped me with the dress) and threw on some shoes she has.  She has legit shoes.  The white ones are these heels that you can keep on by lacing up ribbons---you can put in any ribbon that fits.
Also, Slytherin scarf she made.  In the best of ways--because Slytherins aren't described as douches, just as ambitious people-she is a Slytherin for certain.

I'm working on a glider character for myself too, as mentioned above.  Her name's Tess, she's a sort of rusty tan color, she's got turquoise hair, and her tits are awesome. XP  Also she's gonna be Lance's friend/possible girlfriend but he'll meet her/fall in love with her as Emilie (very unfortunate!).
I'll have some sketches of her up soon.  All I know for sure is, I probably am going to give her an unrealistic body. XP  skinny, cute huggable butt, and large cup size. D:  But she's also trying to live life with this obnoxious glider skin getting in the way and it bunches up under her bra/undies all the time (or else it would be blown out in the wind...).  Ouch.

OH ALSO Liz's character has a little pet alligator that Laurel and I came up with for her.  Cute, right? :P

It's not great.  I colored it pretty fast and I now realize I forgot to color in its collar.  But whatevs, it's cute and it's done which means her ref (which took me an inordinate amount of time) will be done by the end of the day.

Doodle I forgot to post.

Lance and Emilie.  I keep forgetting the horizontal anti-eyebrow they have, it'd show up on Lance's headshot if I actually remembered it.
He keeps changing when I draw him.  I gotta pin his design down and really get his headshots to be more consistent, I think.

Doing REALLY well on my Christmas gifts for friends.  I've done a lot of human sketches, mostly of my boys Liam and Dan, and I'll scan them soon. I'm trying to design a sugar glider...it's tricky :P

Doodles of Dan I did on the corner of the French version of "Oh Christmas Tree" all ready for winter (well, sorta).  He gets a red nose on a good day so his nose must be like, NEON here.  He doesn't wear a nice, puffy warm winter jacket either (which is really dumb) because he thinks it makes him look fat.  This, from the kid who weighs nearly nothing--and no, Danno ain't manorexic, he's just plain thin.

But he does wear a cute hat and scarf. :/ He straightened his bangs only here.

 Dan and Jack.  Dan's side profile is atrocious.  I like the one above better.  I love his front view though.
Jack is in Bad Spider--he's the Guitarist Who Needs No Introduction--and is a fursuiter and fursuit maker as well as general furry artist.  He's an incredibly stylish person.  I SUPER stylized his features here as I'm starting to zone in on how I want him to look (the guys in Kill Hannah all resemble him in a certain way, lol).  He wears bunny ears and antlers (sometimes reindeer ones with little bells he bought at the dollar store) most days--his fursona is, oh god, such a groaner: Jack the Jackalope. :/  Dan had a crush on him for a while but then got over it because essentially Dan is not a gay character XP Jack is though.

 Liam and Derrick.  Still playing around with Derrick.  If the side profile looks familiar, it's a sketch based off of a different picture...that didn't turn out as well as I hoped.  I like his front view, though, and that initial picture of him works with the front view, so I just need to get better at those.
LIAM LOOKS PERFECT TO ME HERE.  I LOVE IT.

I "saw" Liam in a restaurant and doodled the guy on a napkin while watching him eat chicken wings and laugh at stuff his friends said.  I starred the ones I like.  I REALLY like the one of Andy with the hat on. And Anthro!Liam is a big masculine ginger tabby.  And may also be a wolf.  Depends on what he wants to draw.  

The side view looks more like the guy (who was in a hat) than he does Liam, but it's still close.  The picture above is WAY closer, but seeing that the front views were really similar was neat.  The hat makes him look different.  Plus I actually scaled his skull correctly on the napkin doodles....

Also, WIPs from forever ago of Bailey and Benihime (contest prize...I want to just get it over with, I REALLY hate drawing anything for fetish furs).  I'm scared to finish the Bailey one.  Lately white on parchment has been a frightening thought.  But it's so cute. -_- 

WIPs for Sophie  (the moth-deer-rabbit-spirit character) and Joy (super cute peach-faced lovebird).  Characters for IRL friends.  I was really close to Sophie for the designing because she's a fellow artist and is planning to draw this design (eee!).  It's ALMOST done. 

her hair does NOT have V-bangs.  It has Bettie Paige bangs.  MY bangs are V-bangs. >:E

So she's a forest spirit primarily of decay (leaves rot where she walks, she can create dirt, create maggots and worms, decompose dead animals and plant matter, and make mushrooms grow) that gives off a weak aura attracting mostly moths but calming other animals so that she can approach any of them.  She didn't scan right: the arms are a pale grey, slightly brown, and the colors are darker and more mixed.  Oh well.

She can run around in the city or country, either or.  Likes lolita and vintage dresses, and high-fashion goth.  She is SO fucking fashionable irl.  One of those people that can wear ANYTHING.

So yeah, she's a forest spirit but she doesn't exclusively live in the forest.

Joy is a lovebird for a bunch of reasons.  She's annoying, cocks her head a lot like one, and sings.  She felt it fit her immature charm. XP Plus her buddy Liz is a dog-bird-thing so they sort of half go.  She also doesn't have breasts, but instead has this "bump" of feathers that lovebirds have on their chests.  And she has comic book bird hands, lol.  No fingers...but still left handed.  

Her pants are funky.  They're made to accommodate bird legs, and have holes for the knee and can zip off right above the knee or down the back for greater comfort/other options of wear in general.  I had a pair of zip off pants as a kid...ah, those were the days.

I don't really know why but I've always drawn her as a papillon, for a few years now.  Other animals may fit her better, but she's got this fluffy hair that she dyes all the time and she's just got this sophistication that reminds me of one.  She's by no means small.  She's really tall and is either a brown belt or lower-level black belt in karate.  She's sturdy, more sturdy than these dogs are.  BUT it just fits, so I don't question it.  She likes it anyway.

Carlos is one of my favorites as well as my number 1 kink character.
She's best friends with Lindsay, lives with/hangs around with Carmichael (lindsay's bf), sees Bailey often, and is mostly internet friends with Dan but they chill sometimes.  She becomes friends with Lance/Emilie, Tess, and Andy and Liam over time.  Close with her half sister, Sam. 
She was born in Brazil, then moved to NYC with both parents when she was eight, where they lived with Lucy's bitter informally adopted brother.  Remus was like a bro to him, but they had a relationship later on that ended on bad terms.  It was supposed to be a temporary move but Remus kept borrowing their cash and they couldn't really move so they left immediately when Lucy got a job offer in Toronto.  Carlos was 12 then.  She and Merriweather started living together weeks after they began dating when Merriweather got kicked out.  That was when she was 16--she started transitioning a few months after.

She met Merriweather in Rochester at an anime/furry con he had been dragged to, and when he got kicked out, he had no choice but to move to Toronto and live with her family. NOTE: Carlos is Merriweather’s mistress, and this is somewhat evident out of the bedroom. Usually they’re pretty casual-equal towards one another, but they both enjoy interweaving aspects into daily life.  Her subbing is often a reward for previous sessions but is sometimes for stress or simply because.  During such a session she’s usually sweet and gentle, purposely vulnerable. During these sessions he calls her his princess or baby girl. A ton of finished work and WIP's...mix of clean and nude/adult.  the latter are under the cut. finished version of Death and the Maiden.  Portfolio piece for sure.  Didn't scan the whole thing though, it got cut off. ;-;

Various unfinished ATCs.  Fanart for Matt & Kim (I'll Take Us Home to be specific, from the album Grand) and Say Anything (Little Girls), and a picture of Bailey wigging out in double.  All from this summer. 

The Body (Stand By Me was made from this story), and Carrie.  I want to make a "torso" for the middle but I need to pick another, recognizable, Stephen King story.  Also it has to be one I've read. XP I haven't read all his "classics" yet by any means. 

 Liam.  It doesn't look like how I want him to look.  His face used to be too "pretty" so I went all ultra-squished and now it's just not him either.  Honestly, he looks like Derrick (see below the cut, but warning: adult art) and that's annoying.  Drawn to the totally inspiring, mostly instrumental album Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die; Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever by Explosions in the Sky (I bet it's a will instead of shall but I can't remember right now).  There's one track that's got speaking.

And finally, this is in my portfolio to show how my thoughts progress.  A redesign of a character with a long, interesting history.  I made up Triina in like, 7th grade.  She got me into some drama with gutter flower (who is a friend now <3) for good reason: I didn't quite understand what I'd done as being wrong, but I'd copied her character Tristan, especially his hair.  There wasn't enough distinguishing them (looking back it is one of the most embarrassing things I've ever done, honestly).  So then I was super inspired by all the adorable asian people all over Seattle and by a few tattoo books I'd bought recently, and just...by the atmosphere over there, and a bunch of bluejays in the bird feeder back home.  So I went crazy and made her an honestly cool character.  She's kinda chubby and small-chested, and I like it.  Her tattoos are all asian-themed now and I actually took the time to design them.  I threw on a TON of bird feathers, kept her hands which change color with HEAT as to MOOD but instead of dumb pawprints shaped like X's, she's got splatter markings.  Bird hands, birdlike feet.  Feathers and stumps of undeveloped wings, ridges of feathers that can raise and lower.  I love her now.
I'm making a few adoptables and some of them will be bird-dogs like her.
I was afraid to post the redesign for a long time. I  was kind of secretly convinced that I'd accidentally made her more like Tristan or more like another character, one I didn't even know existed or something...which was stupid, so I just went ahead with it.  Only for some time, I'd had Triina with new hair and a tweaked design that was acceptable to both of us.  She just fell to the wayside and I redesigned her to have something cute to draw.
She's got a totally different attitude too.  I mellowed her out like woah, and made her just...way cuter, way more fun, and less...gross and slutty.  She might join a riot grrl group that would then be around where Bad Spider and I Read the Giver play (I Read the Giver is read as in, past tense: I have read the Giver).  She's a fan of them and that's a shirt design I hope to make for real someday.

A really fun picture of Sid from alllll the way back in Summer again, when I was in Kentucky!  I love the pose...so sassy. She's my grey and white pit bull girl.  Fauxhawks ftw.  She's really damn cute and may be in a band with Triina.  in any case, she's friends with her if nothing else.

Some WIPs...

Went to an Alfred University visitation.  I decided that's where I'm going--I fit with the people there.  The energy's right.
We stayed with a friend who is on the portfolio committee and teaches there.  Gonna redo a few of my graphite pieces--she said to just keep drawing my rats because it's what I'm good at, what motivates me, and it's hard to draw a moving target in observational drawing.
But yeah, in that spirit...some WIPs, one of them is going in my portfolio when it's done.

It's greyscale and is already painted in, mostly.  Watercolor.  Gonna darken it a little in some parts.  Hopefully I can get a colored WIP scan but I'm in a hurry right now and it's at the other end of the house.
Steffen and...death, I guess.  Death and the "Maiden" I suppose.
Steffen's one fucked up guy.  He's Emma's ex and is very much confused about his gender orientation plus is revoltingly thin.  His ideal weight is 60 pounds.  He can't do much now except sit around and cry to Morrissey and The Cure.  And that's why you don't get surgeries relating to your gender if you don't know if you're ready. Basically he IS the song Sex Changes.

But yeah, um, I like drawing thin things and I like drawing obvious men with bangs.  Men...hm.  He's not sure.  I just like that his face is masculine enough that he looks odd with bangs.

It's weird but really good.  Had no clue that's what the one I ordered came with.

Art card, another WIP on the pinup.

This was one of two finished gifts for teachers I'd asked for recommendation letters from.  The other one I did in school and didn't get a chance to scan, which sucks.  It was a little...not rushed, but quick...but really different for me.  I was working totally in the moment on intuition.

This one was more planned out.  In fact the sketch was several months old.  I couldn't get to my watercolors (thaaaank you broken desk) so I wound up using some bottles of ink on the robes, candle, and background, with a brush.  I'd never done that before and it was a lot of fun.

The finished version has Lance's horn colored cream color and his robe, along the red fabric strip's edge, had a stripe of gold.  The candle had a smudge of it to add a bit of a metallic glow.

I have another art card for a teacher that's still in the works (I'd scan it except it's not next to me right now)  and more sketches for my arthousecoop project.  I should scan those sometime today or tomorrow and will probably just add it on to this post.

Later I'm going to be coloring Merriweather's reference sheet.

S/he was originally made up for a class project recently after my first rat passed away and s/he shares a similar coat color and other features with her.  Emilie was made first, Lance came later when I couldn't decide which design I liked best.  Plus Orlando.  I'm bad and haven't read Orlando: A Biography yet but the film is one of my favorites.  Lance/Emilie always remind me of it.

Involved in Shadowed Lives, his/her spiritual nature and interest in all things otherworldly lends itself well to his/her being intimately involved in the storyline.

Personality: Lance/Emilie is a bit of a pessimist about social situations, but an optimist in other aspects of life, and very open minded.  S/he’s usually calm except for the social anxiety.  Friendly, considerate, a little nervous.  Gender fluid/gender dual, has had some variation of Emilie as his/her female self for his/her entire life.  Lance created an actual alternate female form using undead magick and energy transfer methods technically possible for a unicorn mix such as himself/herself, but undead methods are incredibly harmful and potentially deadly to use if alive and her form is damaged.  The lower jaw on one side is sometimes damaged or missing flesh, but not always.  S/he’s artistically inclined in a number of ways, from glassblowing and painting to sculpting and elaborate theatrical makeup to sewing and playing guitar.  S/he has few friends and is pretty shy, but still goes to music gigs, festivals, and other events in his/her city and the surrounding area.  FAR MORE SOCIAL, less clumsy, and more confident as Emilie—she represents a more social, less anxious side that Lance rarely shows otherwise.  USED to be in Bad Spider as a guitarist before  s/he was any good.  S/he’s friends with Dan, Dave, Jack, and Emma (the current members) and enjoys their music. S/he has a very low libido and used to be completely disgusted by physical intimacy but has since identified as demisexual.  (please don't draw Lance/Emilie in explicitly sexual situations, tasteful sensuality is highly preferred.) Lance/Emilie is part unicorn—unicorns in his/her world are a class of deerlike animals which, while being herbivores, also need to energy feed to survive.  Not all unicorns feed harmlessly or even can absorb energy from multiple sources; some species are dangerous to be around and will feed directly from needed vital energies in other living beings.  His/her unicorn genes are from one of the smallest Unicorns, a musk deer-like species called Graham's Marsh Unicorn.  They are found in swamps.  They are capable of feeding from plant-based and atmospheric sources.  Their horns are curved and hard, and keep the crown chakra/third eye permanently open, enabling a high sensitivity to energy around them and easy, constant feeding.  Also, wild feral unicorns and full-blooded anthro unicorns can assume illusionary forms to hide from predators.  Most varieties can only assume a set number of forms that are selected based on environment. Lance/Emilie can do this, but chooses not to (anymore—when s/he was little s/he was the hide-and-seek master!).  S/he as a wide threshold for energy sensitivity and control within him/herself and the surrounding atmosphere, and to a far lesser degree, other life forms.  S/he feeds only from storms, wind, and plants and unlike a full-blooded unicorn does not need to feed multiple times a day or even daily.  Being part unicorn, many kinds of magick and energy work are easier for him/her to do than for most other species (exceptions include others with high psychic abilities, kitsunes, cat demons, tanukis, and Carlos’ race). 

Female form’s jaw varies from looking normal to being fleshless to the bone.  Can be bandaged.  Skin above sometimes damaged,  teeth may show.  

Orange teeth frequently uneven or too long (grinds teeth often while thinking or sleeping)

Baggy eyes, color is between a PEW and a ruby-eye rat.

Hair shaved or buzzed in back.

Wrinkly skin on the mouth/jaw.

Naturally pale honey blond hair.  Pink chelsea, can have braids, beads, or clips.

Fur is fawn and creamy white,  dappled, short and soft.  Typical Berkshire markings.

Thick mix of fur and hair in pubic areas, more pronounced on male form.

Red tears and mucous. 

Large ears.  More pronounced on Emilie as her head is smaller.

Big gauges: about 3 ½ inches.

Smaller ones near inward side of ear (top to bottom): 4g, .00g, 8/16g.

Other gauges (top to bottom): .0g, 2g, 6g.

Other ear piercings are 16g.

Septum, labret (4g), angel bites, vertical anti-eyebrow (left), double horizontal nosebridge.

Body piercings: vertical nipples, horizontal nape twice, microdermals on collarbone.

Lance is more anxious and accident-prone than Emilie, but both of them are prone to scrapes and bruises since s/he spends a lot of time outside climbing trees, hiking, gardening, doing yoga, and playing tennis (which s/he sucks at and usually accounts for bruises).
