Really gross and stupid sketch of Liam racing down...a hill....to kill Sam with a knife?  With his other dog Hamlet derpily by his side...or is that nobly.  Sam isn't phased since you can't kill the dead.  She just wanted to take her repulsive stinking reanimated deer carcass for a stroll.  Jeeze, people.  :/

She can decorate herself and her deer by sticking in decorative needles and pins.  Yum!....Also she has a bloody nose so that's the line on her face :P Will also sew on flower designs, ribbons, fabric scraps, pearls and beads, etc. to her deer friend.  (inspired by some heavily decorated taxidermy I saw on tumblr.)

11/01/11: Halloween!

Firstly, since I neglected to post my Halloween art....remnants may be working their way in over the next few weeks.  I'm still in pumpkin mode.
So my neighbor decided to throw a party and I couldn't sleep because the apartment was shaking so I made a bunch of Halloween ACEOS.

I worked on another project that -may- be too fragile/big to scan; I'll have to see...but it made me way into toning paper with ink.

Sketches from the 20th and 21st, adoptables (finished AND WIPs), some more general WIPs including a tattoo concept, a finished pinup of Emilie, and a racy sketch of Bailey being racy.  He does that.

6/20/ + 6/21

The 20th was pretty weak.  I had eaten nothing all day and then at around 10:40 (after my last post, actually) I ate a revoltingly unhealthy dinner while watching Avatar: The Last Airbender.  Really bad Dan and Liam abound.  I used a magazine cover for the pose ref but I was so not there.  I was already pretty sleep-deprived.
Also the scan cut off funny and the contrast was weird; my scanner is misbehaving.

21st was great, though. I slept earlier, ate properly hahaha, and what's more is the sketches came out well.  Liam and Emma.  Emma's nose isn't narrow enough (her whole face is a little wider than it should be, I think) but the shape of everything is right. Also a pose from another, more interesting magazine picture.

I'm not sure if it's a crow or a raven but I'm kinda going more for a raven, they lend themselves to something this scruffy and sketchy in line style....Tattoo design idea.  It would be under my collarbone on my left side.  I can't really explain why I like them so much.  I know they're symbols of knowledge in Norse myth, and I've always thought of them in terms of my personality because of their reputations for being such smart birds.  They're also handsome animals, and they're sometimes shown in conjunction with dreams and as a sort of afterlife connection.  I also always wear a raven pendant.  The idea of ravens make me feel kind of protected.

I kinda drew silly things all over the paper since it's not actually part of the image.  He's taking out the not-dog, and also Him from the Powerpuff Girls...my current favorite cartoon character ;-;  Doodles of a character--Jack's ex and friend--are also on here. And a sheep cupcake.  I baked a bunch and more with a friend in April.  Also a boyfriend for the ex and friend of Jack's, a piebald deer. Elijah has no place in my storyline and I want a deer.  He won't be so pierced up though.  

 FINISHED CHARACTERS!  IF someone claimed one, they'd get to name them, decide their age, a few likes and dislikes, and their style.  That info would be typed and pasted on.  I also finish the little clothes people in the corners.  The original character sheet is then mailed to you.  They're notecard sized.  I chose to do 50 themes.   These guys are Fairy (the okapi-musk deer mix is based off of fairy-kei), Sweet (asian blue quail-corgi mix), and Punk (elegant fat-tailed mouse opossum, whose natural markings were difficult to draw XP).  My favorite guy is the punk guy, I think.  His tattoos are all based off of street art imagery, too, and the chest piece is "bullet with butterfly wings" I guess.  Yup.  Rastafarian or Nervous may have been a better prompt for him.   I might change that.

Personality: Two main sides: the really scary young angry tortured artist, and the big silly best-friend-ever.  He’s an insomniac and copes frighteningly well on almost no sleep.  He has a very big, often offensive/disgusting, over-the-top, sarcastic, and totally gay sense of humor—and is pretty much capable of making anybody laugh.  He writes constantly, often staying up all night clacking away at the typewriter his grandfather gave him.  For Liam, his art forms are his entire life purpose.  Well, that and his dogs and friends and life goal to adopt little kidlets, too. He’s medicated, but used to skip on purpose at times (not smart)—he felt it stifled his creativity and energy but really he was used to relying on his mania for productivity.  The rapid cycling that characterizes bipolar 2 is still present, but manic and depressive swings are usually pretty mild and manageable.  If he was not successfully medicated he would not be capable of a normal lifestyle.  He has almost too many triggers to keep track of.  He is horrifyingly impulsive and used to act rashly often, but has learned to curb this.  Who he was in high school still hurts him terribly.  Liam’s incredibly devoted to his partner, Andy, who in turn has stuck by him through even the worst of his illness (and other problems).  He is acutely aware of his addictive personality—drugs, but also betting and competitions are all potential habits for him.  He should probably avoid Dan and Rob and other friends, then. The part of him that’s the young angry artist is the part of him that’s wickedly opinionated—he almost wants someone to come up and challenge him, because while he’s somewhat okay in his own skin, some of his family isn’t and the rest of the world (well, some of it) isn’t either.  It’s the part of him that gets down about things.  When he’s on your side, he’s a wonderful listener and likes helping people and hugging people until they yell at him to cut it out.  If he’s on the opposite side, beware. :/ 

Drugs: recovering heroin user, relapses sometimes but is fairly diligent.  Pot sometimes.  Drinks often—usually gross cheap whiskey—and chain smokes like a fiend. Like…there’s a lit cigarette on him all the time.

Fursonas: Timber wolf, bandogge (mastiff-bully mix), bearded dragon, orange tabby cat.  He draws himself as any of the aforementioned, often mixing features of the different animals to fit his mood or the particular picture he’s drawing.  He doesn’t have a set fursona design.  ALSO he has a pokesona, a feraligatr.  

Usually he draws himself as a bipedal with a humanlike build, but he does draw digigrade legs sometimes too, and his pokesona often is drawn as a feraligatr usually is, on its hind legs, hunched over.  

Feel free to draw him doing naughty things in any form, but note that Liam doesn’t like to see animal bits and doesn’t draw himself with them.  I don’t like that either, so please, no dog, cat, lizard, etc. genitals ☹ Human bits only!  

He also is never drawn as a quad, but can look like a were-animal. 

Also, Liam is against most fetishes.  Unless it’s a derpy joke picture AND WE ARE CLOSE FRIENDS, you can’t draw him doing anything adult besides good old fashioned fucking with other two-legged, consenting, grown-up characters.  And please, boys only.  ☹ He is monogamous but feel free to draw him with Batman, Destruction from Sandman, or any of his celebrity crushes. XP Or his partner, Andy.  And please no bondage.  I may like that, but that’s not his deal.  

A bandana or skullcap and wooden engagement ring are a must.  Fashion follows what he wears as a human: muted colors excluding rasta or purple and yellow, faggy/band/self-made screenprinted/theatre/geekery shirts, jeans or khakis, hemp jewelry, birkenstocks, skate sneakers, or...whatever lol.

Drawn to I'll Take Us Home by Matt & Kim.  Specifically from the line, "Hey, New York is a wolflike shadow" in the refrain.  Liquid concentrate watercolors, blue ink pens, gel pen, bic pens, and markers.  Whew.  I started this over the summer....

 

This was drawn to Explosions in the Sky's album Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever, from the track Have you passed through this night?

This imagery is how that album makes me feel.  But in a good way--this is a dark image but it's not a sad or negative image.  Liam's face is too short here and his nose is too big.  I was still figuring out how to draw him when I made this. 

Markers and pencil and pens, pretty much. 

It makes me think of Desperate Hell by Christian Death but it was drawn a while ago.  Maybe over the summer.  I decided to ink it.  I miss Bailey.  I like him here--he looks raw and like he's trapped in himself.  Which he is, by his fears. 

Done over the summer, in Washington, with watercolor, ink, and gel pen, to It's a Metaphor, Fool by Say Anything.  Their first album is my favorite album ever ever ever.  I wish they stayed that good with their continued studio work.  They added in too much electronic stuff and lost their way a little.  Lost their individuality and beauty.

Doing REALLY well on my Christmas gifts for friends.  I've done a lot of human sketches, mostly of my boys Liam and Dan, and I'll scan them soon. I'm trying to design a sugar glider...it's tricky :P

Doodles of Dan I did on the corner of the French version of "Oh Christmas Tree" all ready for winter (well, sorta).  He gets a red nose on a good day so his nose must be like, NEON here.  He doesn't wear a nice, puffy warm winter jacket either (which is really dumb) because he thinks it makes him look fat.  This, from the kid who weighs nearly nothing--and no, Danno ain't manorexic, he's just plain thin.

But he does wear a cute hat and scarf. :/ He straightened his bangs only here.

 Dan and Jack.  Dan's side profile is atrocious.  I like the one above better.  I love his front view though.
Jack is in Bad Spider--he's the Guitarist Who Needs No Introduction--and is a fursuiter and fursuit maker as well as general furry artist.  He's an incredibly stylish person.  I SUPER stylized his features here as I'm starting to zone in on how I want him to look (the guys in Kill Hannah all resemble him in a certain way, lol).  He wears bunny ears and antlers (sometimes reindeer ones with little bells he bought at the dollar store) most days--his fursona is, oh god, such a groaner: Jack the Jackalope. :/  Dan had a crush on him for a while but then got over it because essentially Dan is not a gay character XP Jack is though.

 Liam and Derrick.  Still playing around with Derrick.  If the side profile looks familiar, it's a sketch based off of a different picture...that didn't turn out as well as I hoped.  I like his front view, though, and that initial picture of him works with the front view, so I just need to get better at those.
LIAM LOOKS PERFECT TO ME HERE.  I LOVE IT.

I "saw" Liam in a restaurant and doodled the guy on a napkin while watching him eat chicken wings and laugh at stuff his friends said.  I starred the ones I like.  I REALLY like the one of Andy with the hat on. And Anthro!Liam is a big masculine ginger tabby.  And may also be a wolf.  Depends on what he wants to draw.  

The side view looks more like the guy (who was in a hat) than he does Liam, but it's still close.  The picture above is WAY closer, but seeing that the front views were really similar was neat.  The hat makes him look different.  Plus I actually scaled his skull correctly on the napkin doodles....

Also, WIPs from forever ago of Bailey and Benihime (contest prize...I want to just get it over with, I REALLY hate drawing anything for fetish furs).  I'm scared to finish the Bailey one.  Lately white on parchment has been a frightening thought.  But it's so cute. -_- 

WIPs for Sophie  (the moth-deer-rabbit-spirit character) and Joy (super cute peach-faced lovebird).  Characters for IRL friends.  I was really close to Sophie for the designing because she's a fellow artist and is planning to draw this design (eee!).  It's ALMOST done. 

her hair does NOT have V-bangs.  It has Bettie Paige bangs.  MY bangs are V-bangs. >:E

So she's a forest spirit primarily of decay (leaves rot where she walks, she can create dirt, create maggots and worms, decompose dead animals and plant matter, and make mushrooms grow) that gives off a weak aura attracting mostly moths but calming other animals so that she can approach any of them.  She didn't scan right: the arms are a pale grey, slightly brown, and the colors are darker and more mixed.  Oh well.

She can run around in the city or country, either or.  Likes lolita and vintage dresses, and high-fashion goth.  She is SO fucking fashionable irl.  One of those people that can wear ANYTHING.

So yeah, she's a forest spirit but she doesn't exclusively live in the forest.

Joy is a lovebird for a bunch of reasons.  She's annoying, cocks her head a lot like one, and sings.  She felt it fit her immature charm. XP Plus her buddy Liz is a dog-bird-thing so they sort of half go.  She also doesn't have breasts, but instead has this "bump" of feathers that lovebirds have on their chests.  And she has comic book bird hands, lol.  No fingers...but still left handed.  

Her pants are funky.  They're made to accommodate bird legs, and have holes for the knee and can zip off right above the knee or down the back for greater comfort/other options of wear in general.  I had a pair of zip off pants as a kid...ah, those were the days.  

Also, for my friend Kiera.

I don't really know why but I've always drawn her as a papillon, for a few years now.  Other animals may fit her better, but she's got this fluffy hair that she dyes all the time and she's just got this sophistication that reminds me of one.  She's by no means small.  She's really tall and is either a brown belt or lower-level black belt in karate.  She's sturdy, more sturdy than these dogs are.  BUT it just fits, so I don't question it.  She likes it anyway.  

She'd make a good owl. :P

I have this tiny sketchbook I carry with me.  It's got 110 lb. paper and about one million pages in there, and it's 6 by 9 inches.
I haven't done much in it yet, though.  Got it over the summer while visiting my bro in Seattle, WA with the intent of keeping it in my purse.

I have a few more WIP's...a friend's reference sheet, both of Merriweathers forms (donkey and human), and a nude pin-up that I suppose would have to count as softcore porn, or something, of my character Rachel.  I usually draw -her- as a human but she has a fursona (non assumable) that's really cute and fun to draw.  She makes me think of Halloween without being a Halloween-themed character. I'm pretty proud of it so far--the anatomy around her pelvic bone and legs is really, -really- good!  ;-; I reffed it to be certain, and reffed her face too because opossums are hard to draw from front view.  She's an opossum chinese crested mutt.

Also...I was drawing opossums before it was the fashionable thing to do.  I started actually posting them around the time they started being popular, and all of a sudden, everyone and gramma has an opossum character about two or three months after I'd been drawing and posting Dan regularly, and it's not cool.   -_- It's boring.  And I think it subtracts from the fun-ness of running into a random opossum character.  In fact, it totally does!  BECAUSE PEOPLE LOVE PUTTING OPOSSUMS WITH EITHER ORANGE OR BLOND HAIR AND NATURAL COLOR MARKINGS.  And I'm sick of seeing them everywhere, looking like rip-offs of everyone -else's- characters who had them first, WITH red hair.
It's like...the hipster furs exploded and made clones of someone's character. ;-;  And then after that, even the -sparkledog- artists got in on it.  Sparkle 'possums don't look good.
I don't mean Dan, I mean a few other people who have had those kinds of designs forever and there's like, two of them.  Only.  Besides, who'd rip off my guys?  Exaaaactly.
Plus it makes me think Dan looks less special.  He wasn't a bandwagon attempt and he looks it.
I guess that must be how people with shepherd or lemur characters felt for a while there.

Or halloween bats.  Ev-ery-where.  I'm still working on Estella's design and I have to dance around so many toes....
